Mortimer Design Ltd Mortimer Design Limited specialises in print and web based graphic design. The firm focuses on creating new or revitalising existing brands and identities for a range of SMEs across the North West of England. Established 4 years ago by creative director Matt Mortimer, the firm is run by Matt, his wife Linda, and Christine Champion, who takes care of web-based solutions, from their base in the north of Chester, in a converted dairy farm in Wervin. Matt first heard of Dufton Kellner through word of mouth. A family friend who was also a business owner had, at that point, visited the offices of Dufton Kellner for an initial consultation, and suggested that Matt approach them too. He did so, and both companies subsequently went on to become clients of Dufton Kellner’s. To Matt, it was the feeling that there was more on offer than he would get from a regular accountancy provision. Dufton Kellner offers business advice on a regular basis, which was attractive to Matt’s emerging company. Mortimer Design, which began as a sole trader, became a Limited Company with Dufton Kellner’s help. “They made the process very easy,” said Matt. “They based the recommendation to go limited on figures and calculations that showed that it would be a wise move from a professional development and tax savings point of view. They took their own fees into account in those calculations, and I trust that they wouldn’t have advised us to do it if it wasn’t been beneficial. You get the feeling that they want the best for the business and wouldn’t advise anything unless it made good business sense. “Dufton Kellner weren’t the cheapest option available to us. I was tempted to go for a lower priced firm, but didn’t because of the way Dufton Kellner treated us, and the service we felt that we would get. I’m very pleased that I didn’t. In the long term, especially with regard to going limited, their valuable advice has meant I’ve saved the company money.” The business relationship has been beneficial in other ways, as, according to Matt, he has also entered into a process of ongoing referral. Matt undertook some design work for Dufton Kellner, and as a result, the firm recommended him to some of their other clients. << back |
